Sean Paul
With a string of global hits and performances in over 120 countries, Sean Paul stands as Jamaica’s most influential musical export—the biggest international star to emerge from the “little island with the big sound.” Born Sean Paul Henriques in Kingston in 1973, the dancehall icon has dominated the charts since his breakthrough in the late 1990s, and three decades later, he’s still going strong.
Sean made his global debut with the 1997 hit “Infiltrate.” By the time he dropped his first full-length album, Stage One, in 2000, dancehall anthems like “Deport Them,” “No Bligh” and “Hot Gal Today” had already cemented him as the best-selling artist on VP Records.
His rise continued in 2001 with “Gimme the Light,” followed by his first #1 hit, “Get Busy,” in 2002. His sophomore album, Dutty Rock, produced four Billboard Top 15 singles, including “Like Glue” and “I’m Still In Love With You,” and earned him a Grammy® Award for Best Reggae Album.
His 2005 album Trinity debuted at #5 on the Billboard 200 and achievedPlatinum certification. The album’s smash hit “Temperature” became his third Billboard Hot 100 #1 and landed in the Top 10 in Canada and France, as well as the Top 20 in Australia and the UK.
From 2009’s Imperial Blaze to 2022’s Scorcha, Sean has remained a chart fixture across multiple genres. His collaborations span pop (“No Lie” with Dua Lipa, “Cheap Thrills” with Sia, “Rockabye” with Clean Bandit), EDM (“Come To Me” with Major Lazer, “Mad Love” with David Guetta and Becky G), and Latin music (“Contra La Pared” with J Balvin).
With over 33.8 million monthly Spotify listeners, nearly 5 million YouTube subscribers, and more than 6 billion YouTube views, Sean’s impact is undeniable. He’s an eight-time Grammy nominee, a two-time Soul Train Music Award winner, and has earned accolades from the Billboard Latin Music Awards, American Music Awards, MTV Europe Music Awards, as well as multiple Billboard Music Award nominations.
A multi-platinum powerhouse, Sean has topped both the Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard Reggae charts, collaborated with superstars like Beyoncé, Rihanna, Sia, Idris Elba and Dua Lipa, and made appearances on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, The Wendy Williams Show and The Late Late Show with James Corden, as well as his role as Gwen Stefani’s coach advisor on season 22 of The Voice.
